PORTRAIT – Rachel Blanchard, 2024 Art Packer Certification (Titre Emballeur d’Œuvres d’art)

Today, we give the floor to Rachel, who graduated with Art Packer Certification in 2024.

Hello Rachel, could you tell us about your background before starting the CAP Packer program?

Hello! With pleasure.
Before embarking on this training, I pursued a university degree in art history. I have always been passionate about aesthetics and creation, but I realized that my studies lacked a practical aspect—a concrete application of my knowledge.

What motivated you to choose the CAP Packer work-study program at EILOA?

The work-study program at EILOA offered me the opportunity to link practice with theory, which I had missed in my previous studies I was able to discover the packer profession from the inside, learn the techniques, handle the materials, and apply my knowledge of aesthetics and design.

What do you see as the advantages of the work-study format?

The work-study format is a winning formula for me. It allowed me to gain concrete professional experience while continuing my education. I was able to develop my technical skills, but also learn to work in a team, and adhere to deadlines and safety instructions. And, of course, the remuneration during the training is a significant advantage!

And the prospect of a permanent contract (CDI) at the end of your training?

That is a real motivator! Knowing that I could potentially join the company Chenue at the end of my CAP allowed me to look forward to the future with confidence. It’s an incredible opportunity to be able to start my professional career in a dynamic and innovative company like Chenue.

Do you already have plans for what comes next?

Absolutely! This CAP is a first step for me. In 3 or 4 years, I would like to get my heavy goods vehicle license. This would allow me to be more versatile and progress within Chenue. The idea of transporting the works that I myself packaged is very appealing to me!

What advice would you give to people who are hesitant about pursuing a CAP Packer qualification?

I would tell them to go for it! It’s a fascinating and versatile profession that offers many opportunities for development Packaging is everywhere around us, and it plays an essential role in the protection, conservation, and valorization of artworks. If you are creative, hands-on, and enjoy working in a team, then this profession is for you!
